Join other people in giving to our Vital Funds and make a difference in the place that matters most to you. You can support our Vital Funds for Northumberland, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Gateshead, South Tyneside or Sunderland.

Giving to one our collective Vital Funds gives us the greatest flexibility to respond to needs across our area. Currently, the fund is responding to the recent violence and hate in parts of our region. It will support organisations serving the people most affected by recent events. Support will be for the immediate response, where needed, but it is likely most funds will be directed toward recovery and resilience work, which may be needed for some time.

How will my money make a difference? 

Your money will be used to support projects in one of the following areas of your choice: 

• Gateshead
• Newcastle
• Northumberland
• North Tyneside
• South Tyneside
• Sunderland 

About the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland 

At the Community Foundation we nurture giving and philanthropy, matching generous people with our region's important community causes. Every year, we award grants to hundreds of small charities in the North East through funds set up by our donors. 

Since being established in 1988, the Foundation has awarded over £150 million in grants. 

For the Vital Funds you are making an unrestricted gift that can be used to support projects being undertaken in the area. Usually gifts to Vital Funds are invested into an endowment with the income from endowment used to generate grants, however to address the current events we will be using donations to make grants directly.
