  • About

The fund rewards children and young people for their positive contributions to our communities.

Once a year, grants are made to organisations across Tyne & Wear who support children and young people to realise potential, develop self-confidence and interpersonal skills, provide skills and training and generally encourage them to be positive role models and divert them away from anti-social behaviour and crime.

The organisations are celebrated together at an Awards ceremony which highlights the huge impact they make to the lives of young people.

As a collective giving fund, your money will be pooled with others, so a greater impact can be made.

How will my money make a difference?

Your money will be used to support a wide range of projects through grants made from the High Sheriff of Tyne & Wear Awards. Projects that have benefitted recently include:

•    Running a residential activity weekend for young people;
•    Costs for a health and fitness training;
•    Activities for visually impaired young people to help improve confidence and independence;
•    Supporting a young people’s theatre group.
