  • About

The Fund rewards youth organisations in Northumberland that encourage and provide positive pursuits for young people, providing them with role models and helping them to develop into upstanding citizens.

Once a year, awards are made to youth organisations across the county who encourage beneficial pursuits for young people. They are celebrated together at an Awards ceremony which highlights the huge impact they make to the lives of young people.

As a collective giving fund, your money will be pooled with others, so a greater impact can be made.

How will my money make a difference?

Your donation is invested and grown. The ongoing income earned is given out as grants to important local causes.
Your money will be used to support a wide range of projects through grants made from the High Sheriff of Northumberland Awards. Projects that have benefitted recently include:

•    Providing food and a safe, warm drop in space for young people;
•    Running youth leader development sessions;
•    Farm visits for disadvantaged young people;
•    Purchasing equipment to support Duke of Edinburgh activities.

About the Community Foundation Tyne & Wear and Northumberland

At the Community Foundation we nurture giving and philanthropy, matching generous people with our region's important community causes. Every year, we award grants to hundreds of small charities in the North East through funds set up by our donors.

Since being established in 1988, the Foundation has awarded over £150 million in grants.

When you donate to a fund at the Community Foundation, your money is invested into an endowment. The income from this endowment is used to generate grants to organisations supported by the fund.
